is the art alias of robiwan _{(roh-bee-wahn),} (robi for short!) a Rochester-based, QTPOC artist who loves working with color. Color is one of the primary ways robi understands the world. They use color, shapes, and textures in their art to symbolize and represent sounds, emotions, and energies. why beads?

The bracelets I wear every day are really meaningful to me, and I want to create art that makes people feel something, like mine do.I really enjoy putting together things that are visually interesting by themselves, and creating art with them arranging them to make something new. Beading feels like a type of painting, a type of collage, and a type of mosaic. The different colors, shapes, and textures feel creatively stimulating.I started this endeavor to raise money for my queer theme camp, but found it extremely creatively exciting. Now, I'm eager to continue growing my craft and sharing the art I make :)

robiwan is a Filipino CHamoru American multidisciplinary artist whose art is based on their experiences as a queer, genderfluid, brown, mixed-race, Asian, and neurodivergent person of color. robi works across mediums of painting, digital art, collage, jewelry, music, fiber arts, and fashion to create a uniquely vibrant world of color.Originally from Maine, robi is happy to call Rochester home for the past 3 years, and for the foreseeable future. robi's diasporic identity as an off-island islander is central to their art in many ways, with all of the nuances, confusion, pain, grief, and joy that comes with growing up missing a homeland you’ve never seen.Outside of their visual art, robi enjoys thrifting, radical self-expression, planning their next tattoo, building community, and making music with their band, MISSU KISSU._{If you are interested in donating to support robi's art, please visit their ko-fi!}
